PRF’s research has contributed to improvement of health of Bangladeshi citizens and has supported the career development of numerous Bangladeshi public health professional. Projahnmo Research Foundation is Implementing an “Implementation Research to Scale- up and Evaluate the Impact of Antenatal Corticosteroids (ACS) on Preterm Newborn Outcomes”.

The objective of study is to understand the challenges and opport opportunities in implementing the specific WHO criteria for ACS use, develop effective programmatic solutions, and apply them in LMIC contexts to achieve high coverage of safe ACS use in the context of improved childbirth and newborn care. This multi-country implementation research study is a mixed-methods design, including both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Projahnmo Research Foundation is seeking qualified and motivated applicants from Bangladeshi nationals for the position of Study Physician (SP) for the study.

Job Description/ Responsibility

  • Coordinate and maintain liaison with local MOH & FW (DGHS and DGFP), clinical providers, USG providers and administrative/management authorities (district hospital/medical college, Upazila Health Complex, Civil Surgeon’s office etc)
  • Coordinate and maintain liaison with private provider/managers implementation facility, professional organizations (OBGYN/Pediatricians/ Neonatologist/sonologists), and other relevant stakeholders
  • Facilitate data collection trustworthiness of activitie, supervise daily activities of data collectors, and check for credibility.
  • Ensure regular completion of hospital register, accuracy of data collected, electronic data submission in the data management system and response to queries.
  • Organize training for service providers
  • Prepare progress reports (weekly/fortnightly/monthly), as required.
  • Ensure proper and optimum use of project logistics, including data forms, tab, laptop/desktop computer, etc. Ensure proper documentation, and archiving records.
  • Participate in calls, meetings, training, seminars, and workshops as required by the program and organization,
  • Support visits for internal and external visitors.
  • Represent PRF as required and uphold values of the organization.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

Educational Requirement: MBBS, preferably with Master’s degree in public health (MPH)

Experience Requirement:

  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience.
  • Sound knowledge on Bangladesh newborn and child health situation, excellent technical knowledge on child health programming and good understanding of MOHFW health care delivery system.
  • Candidates having working experience in research will be given preference

Additional Requirement

  • Computer skills in MS word, excel and power point. Familiarity with statistical software will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of ethical guidelines preferable
  • Should be able to communicate effectively both in Bangla and English
  • Should be willing to work beyond office time, including weekends and holidays (if needed)
  • Should be willing to accept challenges and able to handle multiple tasks at a time
  • Agreement to spend at least 70% of the time in the field is an essential requirement.

Salary and Benefit: Negotiable.

Projahnmo Research Foundation Brief introduction : Projahnmo Research Foundation (PRF), a Bangladeshi NGO, is dedicated to the improvement of health and survival of mothers, newborns, children and their families by conducting high priority translational research. The scope of our research encompasses formative research to design contextually appropriate interventions, testing them to provide evidence for cost-effective, scalable interventions, provide policy support, and conduct implementation research to support the Bangladesh Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOH&FW) to scale up evidence-based interventions.

In partnership with the Johns Hopkins University in the USA, the Projahnmo Research Foundation has maintained a state-of-the-art rural research site in Zakiganj sub-district of Sylhet district and developed extensive community- and facility-based research infrastructures, including in an urban research site in Sylhet city corporation area of Sylhet district of Bangladesh.
